Sun Shadow, Day Arc

18” x 24”

2015 – ongoing

Series started in Finland during a residency in July.

Using the almost 24 hours of available sunlight, Johns set up experiments to track the movement of the sun and its shadows. Placing the paper and some simple objects in line with the cardinal directions, she created a series of sundials and stencils to study the path and angle of the sun at that latitude.
